The executives of the Ottawa Vanier Greens EDA and CA will be meeting in the Common room of the Conservation Co-Op (140 Mann Ave) at 7pm tomorrow (Monday, May 3rd 2010) evening.

All Ottawa Vanier Greens members are invited to attend.

Someone should be near the door to let you in the building but if not please dial the buzzer code 119.

Time: 7:30 pm Members are asked to begin arriving by 7:15 so they can be registered and receive ballots.
Location: Sandy Hill Community Centre (250 Sommerset E) This location is wheelchair accessible, has plenty of available parking and can be reached easily on OCTranspo bus # 16 or on foot from the Campus Transitway Station.

Volunteers are still needed for the meeting! We need
- a secretary to take the minutes
- a time keeper to keep us all on track
- 6 volunteers to work the member registrations table; 3 for the Green Party of Canada table and 3 for the Green Party of Ontario table. Volunteers would check members’ identification against the current membership list and hand out ballots to the members who are eligible to vote.

CONSTITUTIONAL CHANGES: I have received two proposed changes to the Constitution.

Motion 1: Move that the Green Party of Ontario members of the Ottawa-Vanier Greens adopt the Charter and Bylaws of the Ottawa-Vanier Green Party of Ontario Constituency Association. (Submitter: Dave Bagler)

As per the constitution, nominees will be accepted before and during the meeting. Avec toutes les menaces d’élections fédérales et les élections partielles provinciales dans les derniers mois, il est difficile de croire qu’il est déjà temps de tenir l’assemblée générale annuelle des Verts d’Ottawa-Vanier.  Mon nom est Nicole Parker. Akbar Manoussi, Chef de la direction de l’ACE d’Ottawa-Vanier, m’a demandé d’organiser la réunion cette année.

L’AGA sera tenu le jeudi, 8 avril 2010 à 19h30 au Centre
Communautaire Côte-de-Sable(250 Sommerset E).

Durant la réunion nous allons élir un nouveau commité exécutif pour gérer les affaires d’Ottawa-Vanier pour 2010-2011.  Tous les postes sont disponibles et nous aimerions agrandir notre équipe.  Si vous êtes intéressé à vous présenter, ou vous avez des questions sur ce qu’une des positions implique, veuillez me contacter pour plus de renseignements.

Pour proposer un changement, veuillez en envoyer une copie à nicoleparker.ottawa@gmail.com.  Comme la constitution l’oblige, les membres pourront réviser tout changement
proposé à partir du jeudi, 25 mars 2010.

Fière franco-ontarienne, Caroline Rioux est née et a grandi à Carson Grove, au coeur d’Ottawa-Vanier. Elle a obtenu son baccalauréat et sa maîtrise en mathématiques de l’Université de Waterloo, pour ensuite travailler en Colombie-Britannique et en Angleterre. C’est son désir d’une vie en français qui la ramena dans sa ville natale. Depuis, elle travaille comme informaticienne chez une compagnie privée à Ottawa.

Last night around 30 people (some from surrounding riding’s, who couldn’t vote but were there to show support) came out to select the next Green Party candidate in Ottawa-Vanier.

The meeting was held at the Sandy Hill Community Centre and was followed up by an impromptu pub night at the Royal Oak on Laurier (who better be voting for us since we go there so often).

Caroline Rioux will be representing Ottawa-Vanier Greens and has brought some renewed excitement to the riding. While she prepares her team more and more former volunteers are back in the fold and we are readying for what will certainly be our best campaign to date.

Thanks to all of you who came out to the event and helped setup/clean-up. A special thanks to Katie and Nicole for handling the registration and other tasks that were critical in last night’s success.

I was giddy yesterday at the possibilities but now I’m pumped. Its time to start the campaign. I’ll try not to make this a habit on in my posts but what we need now is to ensure that Caroline has the resources to implement the size of campaign Ottawa-Vanier can surely support. Please donate to Ottawa-Vanier today.

L’investiture d’Ottawa-Vanier pour le ou la prochain(e) candidat(e) fédéral(e) aura lieu le jeudi 20 août prochain.

La rencontre débutera à 19:00 précisément. Nous demandons à tous d’arriver entre 18:30 et 19:00. Nous espérons d’avoir tout terminer à 20:30 car nous notre réservation pour la salle se termine à 21:00.

L’investiture aura lieu au Centre communautaire de la Côte de sable à 250 Rue Somerset Est.

Chers Verts d’Ottawa-Vanier,

C’était un grand plaisir pour moi d’organiser la rencontre annuelle générale de 2009. J’aimerais remercier les bénévoles suivants, sans qui cette rencontre n’aurait pas été possible:

J’aimerais aussi remercier notre présentateur, David Churnenshenko. Nous lui souhaitons beaucoup de chance avec son prochain documentaire, Powerful.

Nous avons fait un effort particulièrement grand de contacter tous nos membres d’avance pour cette rencontre annuelle. Les bénévoles ont téléphoné une bonne partie de nos adhérents. Pour les membres qui ont indiqué le français comme langue maternelle, je me suis assuré de faire le premier contact en français. 20 personnes sont venues, ce qui est relativement élevé pour une rencontre annuelle.

Les résultats pour l’élection à l’exécutif sont:

• comme président de l’association fédérale, Akbar Manoussi a gagné un deuxième mendat;
• comme président du l’association proviciale, Dave Bagler a gagné pour la première fois;
• comme officier des finances, Sherri Savari and Feliks Welfeld ont gagné. Ils (elles?) vont décider qui va faire le travail au niveau provincial et qui va travailler au niveau fédéral.

En plus, Darcy Hartwick s’est proposé comme chef du comité directeur. De la part des Verts d’Ottawa-Vanier, j’aimerais remercier toutes ces personnes qui ont accepté ce travail qui permettra au Parti Vert d’avoir une présence locale en dehors des élections. Aussi, le travail préparatoire que fait notre organisation pour les élections est indispensable.

C’est la première fois, à ma connaissance, que les Verts d’Ottawa-Vanier ont deux officiers des finances. C’est un bon signe pour l’avenir.

Quant aux amendements, ils ont tous été acceptés sans changements majeurs. Les minutes seront postées dès qu’elles seront disponibles.

Pour ma part, je (Julien Lamarche) compte continuer le travail d’assistant technique (listes d’envoi et site web). Je compte aussi organiser des évènements de temps en temps. Mon prochain projet est l’organisation d’un centre d’appels pour aider avec le référendum sur la réforme électorale en Colombie Britannique. Le référendum aura lieu le 12 mai, mais nous allons commencer à appeler dès que possible. Voir julienlamarche.ca pour plus de détails.

The AGM will be following as close as possible two set of rules, the Ottawa-Vanier constitution and the GPC rules of procedure for association AGMs. In all cases, the GPC rules of procedure override the OVG constitution.
